Junaid Khan, the son of Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, makes his acting debut in the Netflix film “Maharaj,” which is based on the life of journalist Karsan Das Mulji. The plot revolves around the lives of a journalist who, despite the odds, used the power of his pen to fight against the ‘atrocities’ perpetrated by religious leaders.

Junaid Khan stars in Karan P Malhotra’s Hindi film, which also stars Jaideep Ahlawat, Shalini Pandey, Sharvari Wagh, and Jay Upadhyay in Maharaj netflix.

Members of a Hindu organization filed a court petition to block its release.

Arguing that it offends religious sensibilities. Protests over its distribution included boycott requests on social media. As a result, its publication was temporarily halted for one week. Gujarat High Court lifted the suspension on June 21.

It said, “Having viewed the film, this court found nothing objectionable that would hurt the religious feelings of petitioners or a sect,” as reported by The Hindu.

Yash Raj Films (YRF) released a statement yesterday following the court’s decision.

saying, “We are grateful to the judiciary for allowing the release of Maharaj Netflix, a film that celebrates one of our country’s most important social reformers, Karsandas Mulji.”

It stated that “Karsandas, a hero and a devout Vaishnav, stood for righteousness, protected women, and safeguarded his community and faith.” Maharaj Netflix is an homage to his unwavering fighting spirit and fortitude to stand on the right side of history.

Inspired by Saurabh Shah’s 2013 Gujarati novel, Karan P Malhotra’s film dramatizes the significant ‘1862 Maharaj Libel Case’, in which imperial British courts mediated between religious conservatism and progressive change within a colonial nation.

    Maharaj Netflix’s latest offering.

Which was originally scheduled to be released on June 14, received a 3.5 rating out of 5 from Filmfare. Actor Devesh Sharma referred to it as “a stellar launchpad for Junaid Khan.” It is a film with good performances, an engaging story, and competent direction.”

Netizens reacted strongly to the film when it finally premiered on Netflix after a one-week delay. Many users praised Junaid’s acting.

One user wrote, “Sorry, Aamir, but I think I will admire your son Junaid for a while.” Another user rated the film ‘too good’, saying, “In the beginning, I was like, oh, he smiles like his father and is a little clumsy, but later on, he made me forget all of this, especially in the scenes with Jaideep Ahlawat and in the emotional breakdown scenes, Junaid’s acting sparked like anything!” “Too good!”

A third person said, “Junaid Khan made me think of Aamir Khan from Tum Mere Ho, but more than that, I see Faisal Khan’s influence in Junaid’s performance.”

Jaideep has a strong background score.
Junaid’s debut film is forgettable due to a poor storyline and plot.
A person commented, “With a start like this and an actor like him, Junaid Khan is praiseworthy in his field. The actor excels in #Maharaj with an outstanding and powerful performance!”

A different individual posted, “28 Years Old Junaid Khan on his debut has already surpassed #ShahrukhKhan 35 Years of Acting Legacy.” A sixth user commented, “Maharaj was a decent to good watch.”The storyline and drama were excellent. Jaideep Ahlawat was good in a one-note role, and I like the performances of Shalini Pandey and Sharvari. Junaid has acting talent, however his dialogue delivery might be improved.
