Nepal was close to victory, needing just two runs from the final delivery to progress to the Super Eights. However, Klaasen’s swift action dismissed Gulsan Jha, preventing what seemed like an imminent Super Over.
Nepal had shown superior play for most of the game, with their spinners effectively limiting South Africa to a modest score of 115/7. Nepal’s batting order was also strong, reaching 85/2 by the 14th over, making the required run rate achievable.
Despite this, South Africa vs Nepal Tabraiz Shamsi, with figures of 4/19, shifted the momentum towards the Proteas. The fast-bowling pair of Anrich Nortje and Ottneil Baartman maintained composure in the crucial final overs, thwarting Nepal’s chance at a historic win against a full ICC member nation.
